The most important part of good dental care is a regular check-up.
Your teeth don’t have to be hurting for something to be wrong. But if it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t need treatment, right? Wrong. This is a bit like saying you don’t need to change the brakes on your car until you crash…
In most cases, the earlier a problem is detected, the quicker, easier and less traumatic the treatment is. Not to mention less costly. Furthermore, regular dental visits give us the opportunity to prevent future dental problems from arising and maintain an overall higher level of self-care.
Unfortunately, unlike the rest of the body, teeth do not heal themselves when there are problems. A little hole can become an enormous cavity surprisingly quickly. A niggle becomes an excruciating toothache. A slightly wobbly tooth eventually gets so loose it may fall out.
It is not uncommon for quite large problems to develop without giving you much in the way of warning symptoms. Sometimes you will have a feeling that “something’s not right”, but the only way that early dental pathology will be detected is with regular comprehensive dental examinations, and the help of the latest diagnostic tools including x-rays and intra-oral photographs.
We strongly recommend our patients come in for their regular check-ups and cleanings every 6 months to ensure their teeth and gums remain strong and healthy.
