It is so important to check childrens’ teeth at an early age so that we can manage any potential issues before too much harm is done. In particular we will be looking to make sure that:
- Cavities are not developing.
- They are developing good oral hygiene practices.
- The correct number of teeth are present in the correct positions
- Their bites are developing normally and bad habits (such as thumb sucking and dummy use) that have a negative impact on the development of their bites and tooth positions are being corrected.
- They feel comfortable seeing a dentist regularly and are educated about the importance of their teeth and that looking after them can be fun!
The CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE (CDBS) from Medicare provides a wonderful opportunity for eligible children from the ages of 2-17 years to access up to $1,000 of dental benefits over 2 calendar years. You may already have been informed of your eligibility, but if you are unsure you can contact Medicare on 132150 to find out more.
At Dee Why Dental we will charge the Medicare CDBS prices for basic general dentistry to anyone who is eligible under this scheme. Patients are required to pay upfront and should be reimbursed the full amount by Medicare. Orthodontics and cosmetic treatment is not included, and extensive complex work may exceed the $1,000 limit, but you will always be informed of any out-of-pocket expenses that may be incurred.
